Software is critical to every business today. Even traditional mechanical systems have become dependent on the software that runs them. Through my recent work building PEVs (electric skateboard and scooter platforms), I have been inspired to learn these languages to broaden my skill set. Additionally, my study of machine learning and data analysis in my campus bike share program showed me the opportunities of leveraging data to improve a system. My initial studies in machine learning have given me a glimpse into how computing will impact the processes and functions in society in the future.

 

While Mark Andreassen’s article (Why Software is Eating the World) envisioned a software revolution over the last decade, new applications and uses of software are continually found daily, which will only increase its impact on society. I am inspired to become a leader in this evolving field.
